My Summary:
Speak details the freshman year of high school for a girl named Melinda Sordino. The story is written from her point of view. Like most teens Melinda must deal with transition from middle to high school, friends, and boys. Unlike most students, Melinda also has to deal with the aftermath of a party over the summer where she was raped by senior by the name of Andy Evans.

She is in for a long year when she finds that none of her old friends like her anymore, and most of the high school knows her as 'the girl that called the cops'. It's gets even worse when Melinda's ex-best friend Rachel starts dating none other than Andy Evans.
